Creating a Corpus-based Teching Material

We're living in the era of the technology, and there is no doubt that integrating technology into the language-learning process is indispensable. Therefore, my task with my peer Mehmet Furkan Tekeş was to create a Corpus-based teaching material. Our topic for this task was where to and how to use the word ''cause'', and we created material for this purpose. The material consists of four parts: What do we know, explore cause further dive into Corpus data, and match the correct usage of the ''cause''. Before directing students to the Corpus, we should assess their prior knowledge of the topic. So, the first section serves this idea. After the first part, students are diving into Corpus data. They are learning and analyzing different meanings and uses of the word ''cause''. Instead of teacher-directed learning, we let students observe the rules and ideas of the topic. By self-learning and discovering new patterns with their own abilities, Students are becoming more motivated and self-sufficient. Lastly, we sustain some related exercises for students to evaluate their output. These exercises consist of matching the correct usage of the ''cause'' and sentence completion. After all, issues such as students' inadequacy in using technology and students' demotivation due to confusion that may occur during the research in the source provided should be taken into consideration by the teachers.
